Courses Sweeney's run three courses per year, starting in January, April and September. Each course runs for eight weeks. 1) The world of wine, viticulture + vinification 2) France 3) Italy 4) Spain, Portugal and Germany 5) The rest of Europe and America North and South 6) Australia, New Zealand and South Africa 7) Sparkling, fortified + dessert wines 8) Matching food and wine
Courses take place in the tasting room, upstairs in Sweeney’s shop, on Wednesday nights. Evenings start at 7.30, finishing at 10pm. During the course of each night we taste at least eight wines relevant to that evening’s theme. The final food and wine matching night is held in the private dining room at the Washerwoman’s Hill Restaurant in Glasnevin. This evening consists of a six course meal, with all wines provided and commentary on food and wine matching.
The cost for the course is €280, which covers all wines, tuition, lesson materials and the final evening. The course is suitable for those new to wine, and also those with more experience. Courses are run by Wine Education Ireland (www.wineeducationireland.com). The next course commences in September 2011.
